Counseling and Consulting, PLC

I provide comprehensive counseling and consulting services via telehealth to individuals of all ages; families, groups and couples. My goal is to promote your growth, resilience, and well-being so that you are empowered and encouraged to live a more fulfilling and happier life. I have a Doctorate in Counselor Education from Wayne State University. I am also a State Board Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC; License #6401010707), a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC; #406108), a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and a certified EMDR therapist. In addition to private practice, I am currently full-time faculty as well as clinical coordinator in the Counselor Education program at Wayne State University.

I believe that counseling is a shared journey between me and my clients. My role as a counselor is to help my clients to solve problems and cope with issues that interfere with the various areas of their life, as well as the future that they want to have. While we can't change the past, we can work together to better understand the past and integrate it into our present so that we flourish and grow in the future. I understand that change can be difficult. My goal is to help you make those changes you would like, by addressing the unhelpful thinking patterns that are leading to negative emotions and behaviors in a manner that is respectful of you and your cultural beliefs and values.

I use a number of research-based approaches including cognitive-behavior therapy and EMDR. I utilize cognitive-behavioral based approaches to help my clients address their thinking patterns so that they are able to readily address those negative emotions and behaviors that are affecting their everyday moods and interactions. I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy. This therapy is one of four approved treatments used by the VA (Veterans Administration) to treat veterans with PTSD and has also been proven to be an effective treatment for post-trauma symptoms, anxiety disorders, phobias, stress, substance abuse and complicated grief.

For children and adolescents, I provide mental health counseling for a number of issues such as:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • issues related to school
  • interpersonal issues
  • self-esteem
  • eating disorders
  • substance abuse
  • trauma

For adults, I provide mental health counseling for issues such as:

  • trauma and PTSD
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • substance abuse
  • stress
